The advantage of the Caduceus Media system
The Caduceus Media video management platform benefits all facets of a hospital’s organization: from interns and residents to the Chief of Surgery. Below are just some of the benefits of utilizing our system.
Doctors
The educational ramifications of archiving procedures with the operating room cameras is the most exhilarating reason for implementing this technology throughout a hospital or surgical care center. By recording the actual surgery, the surgeon is able to show family members immediately post-operatively what was done for there loved ones.
- Doctors can review their cases
- Doctors can watch/learn different techniques
- Previous operations of a patient can be viewed
- Doctors can review their own work
- Edited copies are available to provide a greater understanding of a doctor’s technique
- New procedures are shared with doctors globally
Hospitals
Video documentation of the events in an operating room can promote safety which is required by hospital accreditors, third party payers as well as Medicare. The documentation can be used to prevent any medical fraud, as insurers have access to this video information. Improved communication between the operating room team and the Pathology Department can only engender better results for the patient and ultimately the hospital reaps in those benefits as well.
Video presentations of various operations can be used to collate portfolios of surgical staff. This documentation can be used by hospitals to assess the individual surgeon’s virtuosity and the overall strength of surgical teams.
- HIPAA Compliant
- Hospitals use videos for training of doctors and staff
- Hospitals can gain insight into doctors’ skills; Caduceus Media can provide a peer review for the hospital if requested
- Re-insurance cost for general liability for hospitals may be reduced as this service leads to ongoing management of risk for the hospital at several levels
Legal
The video documentation of surgical procedures will serve as the gold standard in evaluating a surgeon’s performance by the audit and quality Assurance Committees in the future. Just as the camera is being permitted in the court room and the video of the court room proceedings are being studied just as closely as the written transcripts, so too will the operating room videos be used in medical mal-practice lawsuits.
- Doctors may get a discount on their malpractice insurance that will more than offset their cost of service
- A video will support the doctor’s efforts and may provide a record of “standard of care” and may provide a reference to resolve legal issues
